Supporting Our Staff Through the End-of-Year Push
A message to our staff:
As the school year winds down, the energy across our district feels both electric and heavy. Excitement buzzes through the halls with concerts, final projects, and graduation celebrations. At the same time, an undeniable weight sits on the shoulders of our teachers and staff. The end of the school year is a unique kind of busy. It demands deep focus, emotional resilience, and seemingly endless energy just when we are all running low.
I want to take a moment to acknowledge the reality of this season. The stress you are feeling is real. It is not a sign that you are failing or falling short. It is a sign that you have poured your heart into your students day after day, and you are now carrying the responsibility of helping them finish well. Whether you are finalizing grades, navigating behavior challenges, preparing classrooms for summer break, or supporting students who are feeling anxious about their transitions, your work is deeply important and deeply human.
It is tempting at this point in the year to run on autopilot just to survive the final weeks. But I encourage all of us to find ways to stay connected to the meaning behind our work. Every encouraging word we offer, every patient redirection we give, every moment we choose kindness over frustration matters. These final days leave lasting impressions. Students often remember the feeling of their classroom and school environment even more than they remember specific lessons.
Supporting each other during this time is just as important as supporting our students. A simple smile in the hallway, an extra dose of patience with a colleague, a quick note of encouragement can go a long way. We are all moving through this final stretch together, and none of us need to do it alone.
I also encourage you to give yourself permission to set small goals each day rather than feeling overwhelmed by everything that still needs to be done. Celebrate each win, no matter how small. Finishing strong does not mean finishing without stress or without challenges. It means showing up with heart, determination, and grace for yourself and others.
As your superintendent, I see the extra hours, the extra effort, and the extra heart you are giving. I am proud of what you have accomplished this year and honored to work alongside such a dedicated group of professionals. Let’s finish this year strong, together, knowing that the work we are doing in these final days is planting seeds students will carry with them long after the year ends.
